The Surprising Truth About Ugly Websites By Mark Daoust
Ugliness has never looked better. I have spent the last few days examining a surprising trend in web design that has made ugly websites look absolutely irresistible. No, its not the bolded, 18 point Times New Roman font shouting at me as I access the page that has me excited, nor is it the harsh colors that have actually managed to make my eyes hurt and distort my vision. In fact, its not even that logo which is so pixelated from being processed, resized, saved, and edited so many times that it appears to be blurred to protect the identity of the company who owns the website that has me singing the praises of ugly websites. What is it? Read this Article...

Delivering Your Website's Message By Mark Daoust
It never ceases to amaze me just how many websites lack a clear, well-presented message. There are literally millions of different types of websites. Whether you sell leyden jars through your website, offer advice on how to remove a hornet's nest, or are advertising your own personal services, every website – regardless of how obscure or how mainstream – must convey a message. Stinking Linking Thinking By Gary McHugh
How many times have you heard "A link has to have this PR or that PR to be of value" or "link only to relevant sites" and a myriad of other "Expert" advice on the value of links and reciprocal links? As a webmaster myself I grew increasingly weary of hearing how "important" my links were in the eyes of a search engine. Now this may sound brave or stupid of me but believe me when I say it is neither. 35 Deadly Website Sins That will Kill Your Business! By Shelley Lowery
After reviewing thousands of web sites over the past couple of years for my Exceptional Sites Award, I have come to the conclusion that many business web sites are missing the boat. For example; I've been working on some offline promotions and was searching for a simple targeted mailing list. I searched through about twenty sites and not one of those sites were, what I would consider, professional. Their standard blue links were enlarged to about a size 16 font, busy backgrounds, flashing images and very unorganized. Read this Article...
